Saint Petersburg is often described as the most Western city of Russia. While touring Russian cities you may notice it yourself, after red bricks and golden onion bulbs of Moscow explore St. Petersburg’s rivers and canals, walk along the streets built in baroque and neoclassical styles by the best Italian architects.

In 1991 the historical center of St. Petersburg and some palaces in the city vicinity had become UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, St. Petersburg is one of the most visited travel destinations in Russia famous for its European architecture, extraordinary history, rich cultural traditions and the White Nights.

The itinerary below allows you to explore the most charming city of Russia during fully-guided excursions included in the tour, and at the same time it leaves you many possibilities to discover yourself small side streets of the city and famous St. Petersburg’s “well-shaped” backyards of residential buildings from 1930s.   

Travel Itinerary:

Day 1: St. Petersburg

Arrive to St. Petersburg. We will meet you in the airport/railway station. Transfer to your hotel for check in. Evening at leisure.

Day 2: St. Petersburg. City tour, Hermitage tour

Breakfast in the hotel. The day starts with a panoramic sightseeing tour around the city that was Russia's political and cultural center for over 200 years. Pass wonderful broad squares, wide avenues including Nevsky Prospekt lined with magnificent historic palaces, mansions and churches. See St. Nicolas Church, the Winter Palace, Smolny Cathedral, St. Isaak’s Cathedral, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan and the famous Bronze Horseman. After lunch visit the magnificent Hermitage Museum to view unbelievable collection of Italian masters, French Impressionists and other world famous painters. The collection occupies a large complex of six beautiful historic buildings along the Palace Embankment, including the Winter Palace, a former residence of Russian emperors. Return to your hotel. Day 3: St. Petersburg. Catherine Palace Tour in Tsarskoye Selo incl. Amber Room

Breakfast in the hotel. Depart for a half day tour to Pushkin – a satellite city of St. Petersburg where Ekaterina the Great palace and park are located. Pushkin is 26 km (16 mi) from St. Petersburg city center. Formerly known as Tsarskoye Selo which means Tsar’s Village in Russian it used to be a residence for emperor family. The tour includes visit to the Catherine Palace museum to see the lifestyle and interiors of Russian Emperor including the Amber room – the renovated copy of the lost original room decorated with amber panels, gold and mirrors.  Then enjoy a stroll along the valleys of the regular park in front of the palace where Russian nobles used to spend time at leisure during hot summers.  Lunch at Pushkin restaurant. Return to St. Petersburg. Includes: (B), (L)

Day 4: St. Petersburg. St. Isaak Cathedral, Neva river cruise

Tour the unique Saint Isaac’s Cathedral that used to be the tallest Eastern Orthodox Church before the completion in 2000 of the Cathedral of Christ of Savors in Moscow. Today’s program ends with a boat cruise on city’s rivers and numerous canals. Once you see the city from the water you understand why it is called the Northern Venice. Return to your hotel. (B)

Day 5: St. Petersburg. Departure

Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to airport or railway station. Includes: (B)
