The Irkutsk Hotel (former Intourist Hotel) is located on the Angara river embankment overlooking the historic building of Irkutsk railway station constructed at the end of XIX-th century and the old bridge across Angara built in 1930s. The hotel is very close to Irkutsk historical center. And it is some 6.5 km (4 mi) away from Irkutsk international airport.

The Regional Studies (Local Lore) museum and the monument to Russian Pioneers of Siberia topped by the statue of Russian Imperator Alexander III are in an easy walking distance along the embankment. The area is very clam and nice except for the weekend nights and national holidays when the Angara river embankment turns into a popular partying place for youth.

The Irkutsk hotel offers accommodation in 225 various rooms. The hotel was built 1979 and used to be a part of Intourist – Soviet monopoly chain that hosted all foreign travelers. Since then some of the rooms has been renovated and offer all the modern amenities en suite. There are also standard old-style rooms left that are marketed at somewhat cheaper rate, however, all of them are tired and need refurbishment and can be a choice if you use the room for overnight only.
